Spring is here and it's a great time to clear the clutter from your home.

Here are Sue's top tips for decluttering for Spring

  • Time to pack away your winter clothes. Get everything drycleaned, laundered and mended before storing. Use cedarwood balls or lavender bags to deter moths. If you haven't worn your tan boots all winter ask yourself why are you keeping them? Sell them or give to charity and you won't need so much storage space.
  • Clean out your linen cupboard. Recycle the tatty towels and bedding. Keep only 2-3 sets of bedlinen per bed and a few extra for guests and the gym.
  • Clear that paper mountain. Why are you keeping that pile of half-read papers and magazines? Recycle the papers and give the magazines to your local GP or hospital. Go through old paperbacks and let go of any you won't read again.
  • Do you actually know what is lurking in your handbag? Weigh your handbag with its contents and you'll be amazed at how heavy it is. Clear it out and only keep the essentials in there.
  • Streamline what you keep in your car. Is your car full of old wrappers, newspapers, kids' toys, CDs and cassettes out of their cases? Take everything out and then treat yourself to a car wash and valet. You can rotate your music so you don't get bored.
