Choose a number and stick with it.
 

Every home can only hold so much - this is true whether you live in mansion or in one room. One way of controlling this is to decide how many of each item you want to keep - say 15 mugs, 5 double sheets, 1 spare duvet, only enough books to fit on your existing bookshelves. Then when you buy or are given something new, work on the principle One in One out. That way you always keep a handle on how much you own.
