Positive Self Talk

When sorting out clutter, people are often beset by panicky thoughts such as "what if I make a mistake? …. what if I need it later?"

The trick is to stay calm and focused. Say to yourself: "I can do this ... This is my stuff ... I'm going to sort it one piece at a time ... and I'm going to be honest with myself and make good choices."

It may help to write down all the negative thoughts that come up when you declutter. Then counter them with the image of how fantastic it's going to be when you have a clear, organised space in which to live and work.
